The SCBA was founded in 2004 and currently has approximately 83 builder, remodeler and associate company members.

Participation in the Shelby County Builders Association allows members opportunities to access valuable industry and trade information via local, state, and national resources. It also provides networking opportunities with other residential builders and building related businesses.

The Shelby County Builders Association exists to inform the public that there are local businesses (contractors, electricians, plumbers, etc.) in Shelby County who possess the expertise to perform the tasks required for the construction of residential and commercial structures in our community. Our purpose also is to give back to the community through scholarships, donations, etc.

The first official meeting of the Shelby County Builders Association was in August of 2004. However, the idea of the SBCA was conceived a few months earlier. A group of people met at the horse track along with the Shelbyville mayor. The mayor informed everyone of some activities that were going to happen in the future but the idea of forming an association was not actually presented. This confused some people and probably discouraged them. A few months passed by with not much interest towards forming an association. Four builders who had attended the meeting with the mayor took it upon ourselves to try to form a builders organization. All four builders volunteered to take temporary officer positions. They started contacting other builders and suppliers to generate interest in the newly formed Association.

Dave Adams and Bob Berauer, owners of A & B Company, worked with their attorney to become a "Not for profit" organization and to become incorporated. The SCBA has become a sizable organization with strong attendance at the monthly meetings.

• June 16th - Wheeler Corporation
